At the beginning of April 1815, the volcano Tambora on the Indonesian island Sumbawa erupted. Over 117.000 people were killed by the impacts of the eruption. However, the true disaster was only to come afterwards. 200 years later, geological, climate and genetic scientists succeed in reconstructing the tragic details and the factual dimension of this catastrophe. It turns out that no other volcano has ever had such a deep impact on our history as Tambora.
