Fifteen years ago, an Austrian climber has discovered gneiss boulders in a forest near the village Ausserferrera in Grisons. Together with his friends, he cleaned them. They detected hundreds of lines for bouldering, which then belonged to the most difficult routes in the world. They called their paradise “Magic Wood” and it became a famous bouldering area. However, with the spot’s increasing popularity, there appeared also conflicts with the local people. This film shows the fascination of bouldering and shows what had to be done to avoid the repeatedly threatened close-down of “Magic Wood”.
