- The Aletsch Glacier is the mightiest glacier of the Swiss Alps, an icy giant of 22 kilometres. Twenty-seven billion tons of ice move with a speed of 200 metres per year toward the valley and carry huge rock boulders with them. They can be seen as two black tracks on the back of the glacier. The camera shows the almost surreal ice architecture from very close, as it is submerged in crevasses and caves where the ice walls shine in magic blue shades due to the different light refractions.
