The 11.000 voluntary members of the Austrian Mountain Rescue Team enjoy a high reputation on an international level. The rescue team work according to the principle that everyone in danger has to be searched rescued and helped by doctors. Nobody is ever abandoned. There is no question about guilt, even if the mountain tourist was extremely careless. In Tyrol, the rescuers search for a missed hiker, although it is getting dark and fog is coming. Elsewhere, two skiers left the slopes, despite of an avalanche warning, and have been buried by snow. Only one of them has his avalanche beacon with him.
