Egon Rusina is a south-Tyrolean painter and illustrator. His oeuvre is marked by his discomfort with the society of South Tyrol and at the same time by the force of attraction of his Ladin homeland. After satire, caricature or cartoon and the fantastic realism, he is now working with monochrome painting, which – according to Rusina – means peace, death and endlessness of nature. “I prefer sitting in front of a mountain for 3 years rather than looking at an erotic picture. Erotic might be very thrilling and interesting for the moment, but a mountain, which apparently seems to be death, comes alive the longer you look at it.”
