The mines of Messel near Frankfurt, which are 47 million years old, are an Eldorado for paleontologists searching for petrified animals and plants. This place was once a lake surrounded by tropical jungle. The scientists are now looking for a living space, which corresponds to the one in Messel in primeval times. Their search for clues leads them around the world, from the maars of the Eifel, via the rain forests in the Andes to East Asia, to the last still remaining primeval forests of Sumatra. Here, an ominous ghost lake is awaiting them, which is feared very much by the locals. It is said that there are not-decayed bodies floating around, and whoever looks at the lake will die on the same day.
