Nature and Environment
The Rhön has often been called the „land of open distances “. This low mountain range is home to black storks in primeval beech forests, to cathedrals of basaltic rocks, moors, block detritus of the Ice Age, eagle owls and Montagu’s harriers. Furthermore, mountain pastures with arnica and calcareous low-nutrient meadows rich with orchids and butterflies. This film portrays in a sensitive and capturing way the animals and plants, the unique landscape and the humans, during all the seasons. One marginal particularity: The film music was composed and recorded by the approximately fifty musicians of the Film Music Orchestra of the Art University in Graz.
