Peak

Hannes Lang (Deutschland)

Peak hits us emotionally. The film shows us the effects of the global warming in the most popular tourist areas in the Alps. Skiing in the Alps will never be the same again after watching this important movie. In the film we see human beings doing their utmost to keep an industry intact by fabricating snow and an artificial environment. But nature will choose its own way. The fantastic camera work makes us feel, at the end, dirty. The style of the director is consistent. Even his message is very clear, he is not moralizing.

Leo Dickinson im Portrait

Werner Bertolan (Deutschland)

A portrait of a great film maker who always has ideas, like a powerful erupting volcano and who always finds new styles for his documentaries. His camera was always in the centre of action. A great film maker who will inspire young film makers to make impressive adventure films. In the pre-GoPro-era Leo Dickinson reaches the limits without neglecting the ethics.

The Climbing Shepherd

Alun Hughes (Großbritannien)

The Climbing Shepherd relates the authentic story of the Welsh climbing talent Ioan Doyle, who has consciously decided to spend his life with his wife, sheep and climbing. With good humour and irony, we are introduced into these contrary worlds which at first sight seem to be incompatible. The unpretentious camera work distances itself deliberately from the heroic epics of other films in this category.

Das Moor

Jan Haft (Deutschland)

The images of this film lead us in an astonishing journey into the moors, which due to human impacts have been threatened by extinction. The high effort, patience and technology allow us to experience these biotopes in a particular way. Exceptional camera angles and perspectives show us the rich diversity of the flora and fauna which truly deserve protection. It is pure joy to watch this creative film.

Vanishing Point

Stephen A. Smith, Julia Szucz (Kanada)

With their film Vanishing Point Stephen A. Smith and Julia Szucs open a door which until now has been closed and thus allow us a direct approach into the heart of the Inuit culture. We therefore become allied and start to understand the complex problems which are by these people by the global warming. An amazing film which in a gentle and therefore touching way makes us familiar with the Inuits’ struggle for survival.

The Boy Who Flies

Benjamin Jordan (Kanada)

This low cost production confirms that a creative idea can beat the biggest films. Despite imperfect story telling, bad sound and roller coaster camera work, at the end the film brings us to an unforgettable climax that moves us deeply. The film teaches us what you get, if we share our modern expensive adventure dreams with the poorest.
