Two previous (German) free climbing champions, Kurt Albert from the so-called Franconian Switzerland in Germany and Bernd Arnold from the so-called Saxon Switzerland in former East Germany, have been attracted to the granite giants in Patagonia six times. This film documents their ascent along a new route to the Aguja Mermoz in the Fiz Roy Massif and reflects their individual climbing philosophies. As a result of their many acquaintances in their self-chosen “second homeland”, they lead us in a very sensitive way through these harsh mountains and introduce the inhabitants.
